“Oscar
has such an expressive personality. He has mastered communicating just short of
speaking. When he sees a doggy friend of his walking on the street or in our
courtyard, he has a way of saying, ‘Dad, why am I in here, and my buddies are
out there? Let's get going, pronto!’ An ideal afternoon for Oscar is sitting in
the window, watching the downtown traffic go by, while keeping a tight time
table on his outdoor schedule. He likes to go out every four hours and will make
sure you know it.
My
secret indulgence for Oscar is slow-roasted chicken mixed in with his organic
dry food. He loves the taste, and I love to see him happy. Oscar has a little
friend that lives in our building named Denzel. Whenever he hears Denzel in the
hallway, he barks from the front door to let me know. I open the door and let
him roll out. When he's ready to come home, he comes back to the door, barks
once and gives the door a little scratch.
I
had one other dog in my life before Oscar named Smokey. I can't believe I was
blessed twice to have what I believe is truly this man's best friend. From
waiting by the door every time I go out, to giving me loads of kisses each
morning when we get our day started, I couldn't imagine this time in my life
without my precious furry friend.
Oscar's
even inspired my brand and business. I'm working with Kristina Robertson of Barkley Square Pets (they groom and
care for Oscar) on developing a new line of pet hair care products to keep pets
fresh, comfortable, conditioned, and primed for hours of family cuddling.
