The Washington Humane Society was proud to partner with HandsOn Greater DC Cares to pay tribute to the victims, survivors and heroes of 9/11 through the engagement of 10,000 volunteers in three days of service to others across the region. As part of the 10th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, our community honored those touched by 9/11 by engaging in nearly 50 service projects at nonprofits, schools and community based organizations.
Before
The Washington Humane Society’s National Capital Area Spay & Neuter Center was chosen as one of nearly 50 service project locations in our region. On Friday, September 9, more than 20 volunteers spent the day in the rain, beautifying the landscape around the Center and demonstrating our mutual commitment to neighborhood partnerships and volunteerism. Their work greatly improved the landscape of our Center, helping WHS project an image externally that matches the high-quality work performed inside, for the benefit of the hundreds of pet families who line up each week to receive critical services for their animals.
After
We sincerely thank HandsOn Greater DC Cares and the selfless volunteers who dedicated their time to us for making a difference in our community; they truly rekindled the Spirit of Service during this important time of remembrance in our nation.
