Over the past two weeks we have been involved in a contest to see who could get the most online votes. The top 50 groups to secure the most votes will move on to compete in the final phase worth $100,000. The money, if won, will go directly to helping homeless and abused animals in the DC Metro area. We have so many thoughts and ideas of how this money could help us increase adoptions and reach out to members of the community who would greatly benefit from our services. Services such as spaying and neutering animals to reduce the numbers of unwanted pets coming into our shelter each year and helping the community as a whole learn how to properly care for animals, resolve conlicts and report cruelty when they see it.
Washington Humane Society is committed to helping each and every animal we can, no call ever goes unanswered, no animal is ever turned away…ever!
We are not just about animals; we are here for the people who care for them, the people who live in our community who interact with them, we are here for families who include animals as part of their family, we are part of that family.
There is a lot to be done and we cannot do it with out the support of our friends, like you, who show us each day that the work we do is valued and for that we are forever grateful to each of you.
Today is the last day to cast your vote for Washington Humane Society to secure that spot in the final phase. We know you have been inundated with requests over the past two weeks and we wouldn’t do it unless we knew how important it was to the animals we serve and that there are others competing for the same spot. So with this we ask you one last time to log on to www.votetosavelives.org and show us that Washington Humane Society and the animals we care for deserve that $100,000 and to make DC a better place for animals.
Thank you,
Scott Giacoppo

This is me with one of my dogs Gracie, when she first came to WHS she had a serious skin condition and was rather unsightly to the average person. With months of medication and a lot of TLC, Gracie has turned into a beautiful young pup enjoying life to the fullest. If it weren't for the kindness and support of our friends who help WHS, she may never have recieved the care she needed so I want to personally thank you for giving me Gracie.
