If you’ve ever visited one of our shelters, you know that there are far more cats available for adoption that there are dogs. This is not a problem found just in DC, nationally, cats out number any other animal entering shelters by at least 2 to 1!
As summer approaches more and more cats will enter our shelters looking for new homes and we will be doing everything we can to provide people with the opportunities to meet the perfect cat for their life. One of our favorite ways to introduce people and cats is through our “Meow Mixers”. These one of a kind events bring people together for an evening of fun and education about adopting cats, bringing cats into your life, introducing a new cat to a home where cats already live and so on.
The next “Meow Mixer” will be a “Wild West theme and will be held this Thursday night (April 21st 2011) at out Behavior Learning Center located at 7315 Georgia Ave NW. The open house style event kicks off at 7pm and lasts until 9. Washington Humane Society staff, volunteers, and feline foster parents will be on hand to answer any of your cat questions while you nibble on Wild West themed light refreshments and meet these wonderful felines.
At this event you will meet some of our wonderful cats and kittens in foster care who you normally can’t see in our shelters. Mosey on over Thursday evening and meet your new partner!
What a great way to meet cats and people!
