Flavors of Fashion©, a unique collaboration born out of vitaminwater zero’s Top Dog sponsorship of the 5th Annual Fashion for Paws® Runway Show benefiting the Washington Humane Society, will be showcased at this year’s event on April 9, 2011. The five-piece, one-of-a-kind collection will be created by FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising and FIDM’s graduate, Clay Sadler. The flavors of this naturally sweetened, great-tasting, zero calorie drink will be used as inspiration for the dress designs.
The Flavors of Fashion© collection is inspired by five unique vitaminwater zero™ flavors such as “go-go” and “squeezed” and will reflect the colors, inspiration and descriptions of the selected flavors in the garments’ designs. Sadler also used the name of each flavor and imagined an action, which he translated into his sketches. The actions will create an energy and movement in the collection and will be further emphasized by the colors and fabrics. Silk duchesse satin, four-foot inverted ball gown, and cascading ruffles are some of the many fabrics and techniques in which Sadler will use to create the Flavors of Fashion© collection. Sadler uses words such as “massive,” “intricate,” and “vibrant,” when describing the gowns, which will take him months to complete.
The dramatic collection will be worn by live models, provided by THE Artist Agency, presenting the gowns on large pedestals throughout Fashion for Paws® Runway Show event space at the National Building Museum on April 9th.
